We have a plethora of ministries that serve our local community and beyond. There are so many places to serve and we hope you will get involved in one of these great ministries or be willing to give.

Christmas
Cart
Christmas Cart is an ongoing, yearly ministry that assists in providing help to children & families in need of assistance for the Holiday Season. Gate City UMC is proudly the largest distribution site in Scott County.
AA Program
Alcoholics Anonymous meets weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. An AA meeting is a place to spread a message of strength, hope, and courage to each other. This is a safe place for anyone seeking sobriety to come in and ask for help. These meetings will help build a support system to help achieve sobriety. You will be welcomed by your peers who are surviving addiction.


Free Community Lunch
A free lunch is provided to the community on the first Wednesday of every month from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Come join GCUMC in food and fellowship!

Hospitality & Membership Care
The mission of the hospitality and membership care ministry is to feed and nourish the body and the soul. They care for members families in times of need and provide a welcoming environment of comfort, support, love, acceptance, and care for visitors at GCUMC. Each morning before the 9:45am service and immediately following at 10:45 breakfast is offered to all attendees and guests. We are blessed by their culinary gifts!

GCUMC is involved in ongoing mission projects through the Holston Conference - Appalachian District as well as UMCOR, a humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Committee on Relief assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.
Music Ministry
There are many opportunities to share your musical gifts at Gate City UMC. Choir meets each Wednesday evening at 6 pm. Our services also provide opportunities for special music whether it be vocals, instrumental, or both.


Snak Sak Ministry
Snak-Sak is a ministry that provides students at Rye Cove Intermediate and Duffield Primary with weekend food bags. Food is gathered throughout the year and is packed by church volunteers. It is distributed weekly when school is in session.
Special Member Care
This is a ministry to people who are unable to attend church in person. It is a blessing to be able to engage with church and community members through this outreach.
Homebound Communion is also offerd following the 1st Sunday of each month to our special members and homebound friends. Contact the church office to schedule.


United Women in Faith
UWF is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The UWF also sponsors a ministry of providing snacks to cancer patients and staff in Kingsport in memory of Krissy Tipton. Meetings are the 3rd Monday of the month at 6PM at the Church Parsonage.
